Unilumin debuts acoustically transparent LED cinema screen in China

Xinjiekou International Cinema in Nanjing Deji Plaza in China, has unveiled what is being called the world's first "acoustically transparent" LED cinema screen.
 

The display, reportedly the first of its kind to achieve DCI (Digital Cinema Initiatives) certification, was developed by Unilumin.

It measures 20.48 metres wide by 10.8 metres high, and uses the UCine LED film projection system to deliver a 4K96 frame rate and peak brightness levels of 300 nits.

The module perforation design integrates the main sound channel speakers behind the screen, using the LED box's structure to create an optimal sound cavity. This allows the audio to resonate within the cinema, delivering an acoustically transparent sound experience.
