Lightware Launches Taurus UCX HC40 for Streamlined USB-C Connectivity
Lightware Visual Engineering has introduced the Lightware Taurus UCX HC40, a video switcher that simplifies the transmission of 4K video, audio, and control signals using a single USB-C connection, also capable of delivering power.
Reducing Clutter in AV Setups
The Taurus UCX HC40 follows the UCX series tradition, aiming to declutter AV setups by cutting down on cables and connectors. It supports data speeds up to 5 Gbps, courtesy of USB 3.1 Gen1.
Key Upgrades for Better Performance
This new Taurus variant features an improved USB Hub for quicker connections and better compatibility with USB devices and extenders. Other notable upgrades include a live LED for monitoring status, configurable internal resistors for Room Occupancy Sensing (OCS), more flash storage for Lightware's LARA, and a redesigned vent pattern for silent cooling, ensuring devices maintain an optimal temperature.
Convenient Power Delivery and Mac Compatibility
The device allows laptops and other mobile devices connected via USB-C to charge up to 100W (120W total), removing the need to find a power outlet and helping to prevent interruptions. It also offers an updated USB-Ethernet gateway, ensuring compatibility with MacBook M1/M2 models.
Expanding Audio Integration with Dante
The UCX-4x2-HC40D, set for release in November 2023, will introduce support for Dante/AES67 network connections, allowing users to directly send audio signals from the HDMI source to any compatible external audio system. The forthcoming UCX-4x3-HC40BD, available in early 2024, will include bidirectional Dante functionality, broadening the scope for audio system integration in AV setups.
